Who we are

In 2017, Paigelynn Trotter began offering goat and sheep grazing services in collaboration with other livestock owners. Five years later, the business evolved into a family run outfit named Coastal Land and Livestock.

Now, the operation is fully owned and operated by a team of local women.

We, with our dogs and a herd of cashmere goats, migrate between Mendocino and Sonoma Counties, offering adaptive grazing services based on the lands seasonal vegetation needs.

The Coastal team focuses on learning how to best apply low-stress livestock handling principles to all their work with small ruminants. We strive to be advocates for this style of handling and support the expansion of Education around safe and humane Stockmanship with Small Ruminants. Watch out for our beginner workshops on social media.

We are beyond grateful to the dozens of people who have pushed and supported us in getting off the ground with sharing of resources, access to opportunities, funding, advice, business and beyond. It is incredible what the livestock community is willing to do for one another and we look forward to finding ways to support the industry and pay it forward as we continue to grow into these big boots.

Last but not least, we thank the many DOGS who give this work everything they have. We would not operate without their dedication. I take my responsibility to you seriously and will always look up to you in this work.
